My topic is that (7) The Japanese are not one race and (17) Politics and race issues are related. I did not decide which would be the main topic.
In this essay, I will discuss the treatment for Ainu and Ryukyu.
In Edo period, Edo shognate and Matsumae subjugated Ainu and Satsuma also subjected Ryukyu. In Meiji period, Hokkaido and Okinawa became Japanese domain but discrimination exsisted especially to Ainu.
And now, the government decided to respect Ainu as aborigines. But few years ago, a minister said "Japanese are one race," and it was one reason why he was fired.
I will explain the changes of treatment to Ainu and Ryukyu and find the problem in policies and consciousness in Japanese.
